Houses for Healing Testimonies to the Glory of God
A surprise blessing in the midst of my storm. A peaceful place of security and comfort. Houses For Healing is a beautiful extension of the Body of Christ, the hands and feet of Jesus meeting my needs. I felt so loved and cared for even in my darkest days. When my body felt toxic and ravaged by chemotherapy, I had the beautiful Body of Christ calling and wanting to meet my needs, i.e. bringing food, supplying rides, picking up my prescriptions and anything else that was needed. Houses For Healing is a treasure nestled in an inconspicuous place. A place to help those going through health issues and their families.
Being from outside of Abilene, this place made the treatments so much less of a burden to family, friends, and those who were able to help in various ways. I am so thankful for Houses For Healing. The vision is to meet the needs and share the love of Christ with all who are in need of compassion and comfort. The hard times of health challenges, financial challenges, and not knowing how to navigate the everyday stressors that come with a physical diagnosis are paramount. It’s good to know the Body of Christ has the answer to many of the problems and steps up to bring compassion and hope.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers that make this service possible, here in the Big Country, Theresa Moore.
On January 23, 2024, George Eary’s life was altered, at least for the following week.
You see George had a massive stroke and no one was around. When a family member found him, they didn’t know how long he had been lying there alone. He was brought from Brady, Texas to Hendrick North Hospital in Abilene, Texas and placed in ICU.
Now two days later, George’s condition had not improved, and the doctors discovered a clogged artery in his neck that required immediate surgery. Carma shared because they could not afford hotel lodgings and food, 6 of their family members went back home to Brady. Carma’s son and his wife were staying with Carma. She asked if we had housing and food for them, as she didn’t know what to do.
Houses for Healing helped to provide housing and food for all of the family members for the remaining course and all things turned out good after about a weeks time.
